Starting out? What should you Photograph?

One of the main questions I get ask from amateur photographers is “What should I photograph?”, and in all honesty, Photography is completely subjective as a creative industry. I’ve seen photos of blank surfaces, and they’re described as artistic. It’s all about finding something you enjoy photographing, and fulfils your purpose; whether that’s a creative expression, financial, or just to look nice. I’d like to think I’ve worked in a range of different environment: from nightclubs and weddings, to art studios and churches. I’ve been rather lucky to work with such amazing clients who I now call my friends. One of the most popular type of messages I receive are enquiries and one of the questions most people want to know (but are always afraid to ask) is “Why are photographers so expensive?”. Having a reputation as a highly priced service, people often attempt to ‘knock you down’ to something more suitable to their budget.
